Bringing History to Life with Interactive Displays at Lenggong Museum

Client: Lenggong Archaeological Museum

Scope of Work:

To provide and install multiple interactive and display systems throughout the museum, including LED TVs, touchscreens, projectors, and GPIO motion sensors to create an engaging, educational, and immersive visitor experience.

The Challenges:

Lenggong Museum, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, required a modern multimedia solution that could:

  • Integrate seamlessly with the museum’s existing architecture and exhibits.

  • Deliver both interactive and automated content experiences through various display types.

  • Operate reliably for long hours while maintaining high visual and audio quality.

  • Sensor-triggered effects (sound and visuals) to bring exhibits to life.

  • Support multilingual content for both local and international visitors.

The Solutions:

We provided a comprehensive multimedia integration covering multiple zones within the museum:

  • Entrance & Hallway: A 75” display equipped with GPIO motion sensors and TV speakers that trigger ambient nature sounds as visitors walk by, creating an immersive welcome experience.

  • Interactive Zone: A 35” touchscreen that allows visitors to explore Lenggong’s documented history, supported by a 65” display and wall-mounted speakers for enhanced audiovisual impact.

  • Perak Man Exhibit: A 65” display strategically placed beside the Perak Man remains to display relevant educational visuals and historical information.

  • Interactive Drawing Area: A 24” touchscreen linked to a projector, allowing visitors to draw or interact with the content — where the projector mirrors the touchscreen activity for shared engagement.

  • Upstairs Spherical Projection Area: A custom projection setup that presents visuals on a spherical surface. This area also includes a GPIO-triggered sensor that lets visitors switch between language modes.

  • Rear Projection Zone: A laser projector installed behind the screen for a clean, clutter-free display that maintains brightness and visual clarity.

  • Decorative Installation: A 65” display installed inside a large vase, accompanied by ceiling speakers, blending technology seamlessly into the museum’s design aesthetic.

Results:

The completed installation transformed the Lenggong Museum into a more interactive, informative, and visitor-friendly environment.

  • Visitors can now interact with content and learn history through digital storytelling.

  • The motion-triggered sensors enhance engagement by connecting the physical and digital elements.

  • The multilingual interface improves accessibility for international visitors.

  • Reliable hardware and efficient system integration ensure stable, long-term operation for the museum’s daily activities.

Overall, the project successfully bridges Malaysia’s ancient heritage with modern digital technology — enriching the learning experience for every visitor.
